Meanwhile, Outside My Window…

It would appear the someone has made the santelmo (if not the fire angel) angry.

Not only is there a fire raging, but there are explosions seen and heard from the distance. It started around 2 in the morning, but thankfully, the fire’s dying down now, and I don’t hear sirens wailing anymore.

I don’t really care to go nearer just to get a better shot. I’m staying inside my room, thank you very much.

And to think I was complaining for vertigo just a few hours earlier. Some people have bigger problems today. I really hope no one got hurt…

    1. Not sure... My mom just walked in my room and asked me if I could see the fire from here. I was all "what fire?" until I looked up and saw that monster of a red flare in the distance. ヾ(×× ) ツ

Aaaah, be careful! ━Σ(゚Д゚|||)━ Are there any preventive measures you can do?

    2. Mmm... there isn't really much you can do besides crossing your fingers and clearing your brush area. You should clear brush 20ft from you'r house to the forest line or chaparral, in our case. But if the fires are too big or the winds too strong the fire can easily jump that distance or send a spark over. The thing about it is that Santa Ana winds (which start the season) are dry, so sparks travel easily and make ripe conditions for fire.

Thankfully we have a USDA Fire Station 15 min away, plus the regular fire stations nearby. And the city over has a lake where the water bombers we borrow from Canada sit on standby. So that, plus well trained smokejumpers keep us as safe as possible :o

    3. Well, I got my answer. It was a corner bakery a few streets away from us. The explosions were apparently gas tanks for their gas-powered ovens. ヾ(×× ) ツ
