Seafood Buns FTW!

When Aly, Tori, Shwishie, Eunice, and I had a mini-meet last month, Aly ordered a vegetable ramen spup (yes, it’s not “soup” but spup) which had a funny looking fishball in it. Aly said it was egg, but I now have evidence that it was actually a seafood bun, FTW!

Ok, this is orange and white, and the one in Aly’s spup was yellow and white, but I couldn’t help taking a photo of this when I saw it in SM’s Supermarket, Save More in San Lazaro.

Apparently, I’m the one who makes them too… See that “Wei Wei” over there? That’s my nickname, courtesy of Lei.

Oh dear… has my life become so boring that the mere sight of seafood buns makes me giggle?

One Lazy Afternoon~

The other day, my mom and I decided to stop by a cafe and spend the rest of the afternoon chatting over coffee. Our usual hang out place is Starbucks, but it’s always crowded around 3pm, so we went to Figaro instead.

figaro iced coffee and americano

If there is one thing I love, it’s iced coffee without cream, milk, or sugar. Sadly, if I get a drink like that from Starbucks, I end up not finishing it because there’s a sour(?) taste when their brew is iced. I thought Starbucks’ coffee was the best and I didn’t want to try Figaro’s version, but I was really craving for that cold, bitter drink.

Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised. Figaro’s iced coffee is one of the best blends I’ve had so far! It’s very smooth and it doesn’t have a sour aftertaste! My mom ordered the Americano, and she liked it a lot too!

I think Figaro has beaten my love of Starbucks and Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. I think I’ll try their other blends next time.

Nutritional Diary 2012.06.21

bleach icon - kuchiki rukiaMy poor, un-updated blog… I’m so sorry I’ve been ignoring you, but most of my updates had a lot to do with my artworks, so I’ve been busy in kurohiko.com lately.

Not only is Mist starting again, but I’m planning a lot of independent comics for the upcoming Winter Komikon as well. It will be a miracle if I could finish just one book actually. Plus, my publications with Oh No! Manga have been cooking up something very interesting for July’s Event. I’m not completely sure with the details yet, but feel free to check out my site or Facebook Page for updates.

Now with all that going on, you’d think I’ll be too busy working to keep up with my exercise and diet. Well, you’re right. I have not been walking as many times as I’d like, since I’m now down to once a week instead of my usual 2-3. I’m also staying up late because I need to get these pages done, so that means coffee and a lot of junk food. In other words, someone’s been a very bad girl.

It was depressing to think about, so I didn’t really go near the scale for quite some time. But I had to get myself motivated again so I weighed myself a few minutes ago…

I couldn’t believe it.

Although I let myself do whatever I wanted for the past month, I still maintained a 5 pound weight-loss compared to the beginning of the year. That’s 3 pounds less than my last update.

I couldn’t believe it!!!

Ah, that motivates me so much now! And I weighed myself at night, instead of the usual morning (because you weigh less the minute you wake up).

But I wonder, is this because I’ve been stressing out so much lately? I know stress is supposed to make you lose weight, but it was always the exact opposite for me before. Maybe it’s because I’ve been eating a lot less junk food and replacing them with fruit.

I need to stop putting my pants in the dryer though… they shrink every time, and it makes me feel like I’m not losing anything at all!

Oh well, back to working… or maybe it’s time for some sleep now. They’re saying there’s another typhoon coming up, but now that my UPS is fixed, I’m not too worried about the PC dying on me while I work~

Nutritional Diary 2012.04.07

yu yu hakusho avatar - youko kurama by cokho7It's been more than a month since I last updated about my progress in all this dieting, exercising, and keeping healthy.

To be honest, I was pretty much discouraged for the past month. I’ve been doing my walks at least 2-3 times a week, but my eating habits haven’t really changed for the better. Sure I’ve been keeping with eating more fruits and vegetables whenever I can, but it didn’t seem enough because when I got on the scale? Oh there was a change alright, and I gained 5 pounds.

What in the world? 5 pounds?! I’ve only lost 7 and now I gain 5?! No, no, no! This can’t be happening!!!

I was actually thinking of quitting altogether… The walks are getting very tiresome now that it’s summer, and I get dehydrated far to easily.

But then, we went to the beach yesterday. I got heat stroke, so getting to Batanggas was near hell for me with all the dizzy spells and wanting to hurl. This is another story, however, so I’ll tell you guys more about it in another update. The main point about yesterday was that I had to wear my swimsuit… Not something I was looking forward to, because I was planning to hide under my overcoat all day.

My nephew came along with us, and he’s seen me in the same swimsuit before. In all sincerity, he commented, “…eh? Auntie, you’re getting smaller.”

I gave him a skeptical look and told him I’ll buy him ice cream later, because what he said can’t be true. I told him I gained back whatever I lost, and he laughed~ He said it’s probably because my muscles were developing (he’s the second nephew to say so, because the first one already told me before), and he was sure that I was much thinner, especially around my core area.

Needless to say, I was in Cloud 9 for the rest of the day~ The ocean was so nice to see again after a whole year, and the cold, salty water got me out of my dizzying overheat~ It had become an enjoyable day altogether~~

So all this walking, jump-roping, badminton playing in the heat is really helping after all. Alright! Time to work even harder this April!
